Hello, I am Sophie
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t in the plans for a long time. As with many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The early months were demanding — adapting to new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Selnu Varen Okiv
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Represents (And What It Doesn't)
This site IS:
- Practical insights gained from living in Switzerland
- Emphasis on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- An official tourism authority source
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Sophie
